What is the talk range of the radio signals?+
For traditional analog radios, approximately 1 mile outdoors; indoor range varies depending on building construction materials. DirectPTT's cellular Push-to-Talk (PoC) radios operate over 4G LTE and have effectively unlimited range — your team can communicate coast to coast or internationally wherever cellular service exists.
How many channels do your radios have?+
The majority of our radios offer 16 channels. Analog models range from 4 to 64 channels depending on the model. Our PoC cellular radios support unlimited private channels.
Do you rent Intrinsically Safe Radios?+

What accessories are available?+
We offer a full range of accessories including speaker microphones, surveillance microphones (with in-line mic), light headsets with boom microphone, and "D" ring earpiece headsets. All are compatible with DirectPTT handheld radios.
How long do batteries last?+
Approximately 8 hours on a standard battery under average use. Our PoC handheld radios feature 16+ hour battery life for full-shift operation.
How many batteries come with an order?+
Standard orders include a 1-to-3 ratio of extra batteries to radios. For longer rentals or deployments, a 50% ratio is provided to ensure you're never without power.
Do I need an FCC license to rent or use DirectPTT radios?+
No license is required for rentals. National FCC frequencies are pre-programmed into all rental units. For permanent deployments on specific frequencies, FCC licensing requirements may apply — contact us and we can advise.

A repeater is fixed-location equipment that receives a radio signal and re-transmits it at higher power, dramatically extending coverage — particularly useful in multi-story buildings, tunnels, or large facilities.
